How to list a holiday cottage on Google Vacation Rentals

If you want to know how to list on Google Vacation Rentals, treat it as a connectivity job: a registered property-management business with a bookable website, and a partner that can send your availability to Google. Individual homeowners are not eligible. It is not a guest tutorial for “cottages near me”, and a Google Business Profile is not how you get listed. If you cannot take a payment on your own domain, Google has nothing honest to redirect to.

I want the farm name to appear as the farm, not only as an OTA card. The site has to be bookable before any Google product matters — live availability, a real total, checkout on a phone. Google Vacation Rentals on Lodgify is Professional and Ultimate, not Starter. Check the live plan, not an old screenshot. Lodgify pricing is the bill if that is the engine you are on.

What Google Vacation Rentals is (not a guest search page)

Google Vacation Rentals is metasearch. Guests see rates, availability and a booking-link redirect to the partner’s own landing page. Google does not take the booking on-platform, and it charges no referral fee for those clicks. It is not your Google Business Profile, and it is not Airbnb SEO. You still want maps and reviews where you are eligible for them. You also want a listing that can complete a stay without bouncing to “email us”.

If you only have an enquiry form, skip this channel until the engine exists. Connectivity without checkout is advertising for an inbox. If the Google module shows an OTA card instead of your site, that OTA’s commission still applies.

How to list: connectivity partners and your own site

  1. Confirm eligibility. Individually owned rentals are not eligible. You need a registered property-management business with a direct-booking website, or you already appear on an integrated booking site — in which case guests see that OTA’s card, not yours.
  2. Confirm you have a bookable website with live availability and a way to pay. Google redirects; it does not run checkout.
  3. Choose connectivity. Lodgify is on Google’s official partner list; you need Professional or Ultimate, an active Lodgify website, and Lodgify’s 15-guest cap (a Lodgify limit, not Google’s). Direct Google integration wants at least 500 properties plus a technical contact — not a cottage-owner option. SuperControl documents a separate GVR API via support ticket, with guests landing on the SuperControl booking cart; SuperControl is not on Google’s public connectivity-partner list, and SuperControl’s 1% OTA fee does not include Google.
  4. Submit or enable the Vacation Rentals listing through that connectivity. Google’s typical timeline is 8–12 weeks (sometimes 4). Do not promise same-week go-live.
  5. Test the booking path from the listing to a real checkout on your site.

Lodgify's builder can be enough to get listed if you are eligible and on Professional or Ultimate. A direct booking website that guests actually finish is still the conversion test. Lodgify website builder vs custom is that split. Confirm Google Vacation Rentals on the Lodgify plan you would actually buy — features move.

Google Business Profile for a holiday cottage

Google Business Profile is a separate product: local presence, name, map pin, photos, reviews. It is not a Vacation Rentals onboarding step. Google’s GBP policy treats vacation homes as ineligible rental properties. Individual homeowners are not eligible for a GBP for their physical home. A letting office or a true on-site hospitality business is a different case.

Do not create a GBP for the house as if that listed you on Vacation Rentals. Duplicate profiles and a pin on the wrong field are how you look closed. Standalone local-presence advice belongs in marketing, not in this how-to.

Why a weak website fails this channel

Google will not save an enquiry form. If the connected site has no live total, a broken calendar, or a template that dies on mobile, the listing is a pretty dead end. Fix the engine first, then enable the channel. Google’s cost is the connectivity partner’s subscription (and your card processing), not a Google cut.

I wire cottages through Lodgify when the site and the OTAs need the same diary. SuperControl is the UK-agency conversation (Sykes date-block; cottages.com and Hoseasons APIs at three properties) and has a ticketed GVR API that is not an official Google-directory partnership. Google is downstream of whichever engine you actually run. If checkout fails, the listing was never the product.

FAQs

How do I list my holiday cottage on Google Vacation Rentals?+

Individually owned rentals are not eligible as themselves. You need a registered property-management business with a direct-booking website, or you already appear as an OTA's card. Google Vacation Rentals is metasearch: rates and a booking-link redirect, not checkout on Google. Google charges no referral fee. Lodgify is an official partner on Professional and Ultimate. Direct Google integration wants 500+ properties. Google Business Profile is not a GVR setup step — vacation homes are ineligible as GBP locations.

Do I need Airbnb to appear on Google?+

No. Google Vacation Rentals is a separate path. Airbnb may still show in Google in other ways. If the Google module shows an OTA card, that OTA's commission still applies. Owning a bookable site through an eligible partner is how you appear as you, not only as an OTA card.

Does Google Business Profile replace Vacation Rentals?+

No. They are different products. GVR is a free travel-module listing with a visit-website redirect. GBP is a local business profile — and Google treats vacation homes as ineligible rental properties, so do not create a GBP for the house as a GVR how-to. A letting office is a different case. Neither replaces a website that can take the week.
