Does Lodgify work for holiday cottages, not just apartments?

Yes. Weekly stays, minimum nights and extras are normal in the engine. The template is apartment-shaped, though, so a UK cottage often needs better pages than the builder gives you — that's a website problem, not a PMS no.

When cottage owners send me Lodgify reviews, they’re usually trying to work out whether it’s worth it for a diary, a website, and Airbnb — or whether they’ve just read a vendor blog with a beach apartment in the hero. I use Lodgify as a booking engine on custom sites. I also integrate SuperControl and Bookalet when that’s what you already run. The short version is below, then where the reviews are fair, and what the UK alternatives actually are.

Is Lodgify worth it? Short answer

Yes if you want a bookable site plus Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo — one cottage or a larger portfolio. Lodgify is not small-only: Basic is 1 property, Starter is 2, Professional and Ultimate have no published ceiling. Their case studies include Stayhost at 144 properties and Skol at 90. No if you expected it to replace Airbnb, or if you need Sykes, cottages.com or Hoseasons connected. Lodgify does not connect to those. SuperControl’s Sykes link blocks dates; cottages.com and Hoseasons APIs currently need three properties. The builder is worth it as a launch. It isn’t always worth it as the website you still have in five years.

Worth it also depends on what you already have. If the cottage site already takes a deposit and the diary is honest, Lodgify might be a sideways move. If you’re quoting from Gmail and Airbnb is finishing the booking you started, a PMS with a bookable site is a real step — even if you later put a custom front on the same engine.

“Is Lodgify worth it” is a mix of subscription, card fees, and whether guests can finish a booking. Lodgify pricing in 2026 is the bill. If you want the self-serve product, get Lodgify set up and take one test booking that blocks Airbnb. Then look at whether a guest can finish a booking on a phone.

Lodgify vs Airbnb (PMS vs OTA — they are not competitors)

Lodgify vs Airbnb is a category error that still shows up in reviews. Airbnb is where guests search. Lodgify is software that holds your calendar, rates and website engine. You don’t pick one. You list on Airbnb and let Lodgify keep that listing in sync with Booking.com and your site. A review that says “I left Airbnb for Lodgify” usually means they still have an Airbnb listing and stopped living in the host app for the diary.

If the review is really “I wanted fewer OTA fees”, that’s a website and repeat-guest problem, not a PMS-versus-marketplace fight. Keep Airbnb for discovery. Take the weeks you can win on your own domain.

Where Lodgify reviews are fair, and where they are vendor blogs

Fair complaints: the website templates look related; support is not a UK agency helpdesk; channel setup wants care; apps cost extra. Fair praise: you can launch a bookable site without a developer; Airbnb and Booking.com can share a calendar; the API exists when the template caps you.

Ignore star averages scraped from unknown populations. Read whether the writer has shipped a live cottage calendar. I have. I still won’t invent a rating.

If the writer’s only advice is to live inside Lodgify’s website builder, they’re selling the launch, not the conversion. Launch is useful. Conversion is whether a guest can see a week’s price on a phone.

Lodgify alternatives for UK cottages

SuperControl if Sykes date-blocking or a cottages.com/Hoseasons API (three-property minimum) is the job. Bookalet if you want a cheap UK diary with iCal to Airbnb and Booking.com on Pro+. Smoobu or OwnerRez for a simpler PMS with a less marketing-led site. Guesty Lite will sell 1–3 listings from $9; Hostaway’s public funnel starts at two. I still pick Lodgify when the homepage is the product. The UK roundup is best holiday let software UK. An alternative that cannot take a deposit on your domain is not a website strategy.

I’m not going to tell a Sykes-heavy owner to rip out SuperControl because Lodgify’s builder looks cleaner. I’m also not going to tell a one-cottage owner to stay on an agency OS they resent.
